Pope Francis established a World day for Grandparents and the Elderly for the first time on Sunday 25 July 2021. The celebration will fall on the Sunday closest to the Feast of Saints Joachim and Anne, the fourth Sunday of July. This year World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly Event will take place on 28th July at Knock Shrine, with his Excellency Archbishop Luis Mariano Montemayor, Apostolic Nuncio to Ireland, as the principal celebrant.
