Very Rev. Manus Rodgers

Died on Tuesday 30th August 2011
in Kilkenny Regional Hospital.

Fr. Manus served as priest of the Killaloe Diocese for 59 years and was a native of Scariff, Co. Clare. He studied for the priesthood at St. Patrick’s College, Carlow where he was ordained in 1952. He began his priestly ministry in the diocese of Brentwood, England. In December 1956 he returned to take up an appointment as curate in Kilmaley. In 1960 he was appointed curate in Killaloe and in 1965 became curate in Newmarket on Fergus. He was transferred to Tulla in 1977 as curate. In July 1986 he was appointed parish priest of Killanena-Flagmount and in 1989 he was appointed parish priest of Silvermines, Co Tipperary where he served until his retirement in 2004. He was appointed Assistant Pastor to Silvermines Parish in 2004.

Fr. Manus’s remains will repose at the church of Our Lady of Lourdes, Silvermines, Co Tipperary from 4pm until 8pm on Wednesday, 31st August with Funeral Prayers at 8pm.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, 1st September at 2pm Fr. Manus will be laid to rest in the Church grounds of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Silvermines immediately after the Requiem Mass.
