Died 5th August 2011
in the Bons Secours Hospital, Galway.

Fr. Hugh served as priest of Killaloe Diocese for 47 years. He was a native of Sixmilebridge, Co Clare where he was born on March 25th 1939. He was educated in St Flannan’s College, Ennis and St Patrick’s College, Maynooth where he was ordained on June 21st 1964. After ordination he was appointed on Temporary Mission to the Diocese of Ossory. He was recalled in 1969 and assigned to a teaching post in London. He returned to take H. Dip in Education and to take up a teaching post in St Flannan’s College in 1972. In 1986 he volunteered to work on the Killaloe Mission to Zimbabwe and remained there until 1991. He was appointed C.C. Truagh on his return and Administrator of St. Joseph’s Ennis in 1993. He was appointed Parish Priest of Ogonnelloe in 1997 and Parish Priest of O’Callaghan’s Mills in 2009.

FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS:

Fr. Hugh’s remains will repose at the church of St Patrick, O’Callaghan’ s Mills, Co. Clare from 5 p.m. until 8.00 p.m. on Sunday 7th August with Funeral Prayers at 8.00 pm.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, 8th August  in St Patrick’s Church, O’Callaghans Mills Co. Clare at 2.00 pm. Fr. Hugh will be laid to rest in the Church grounds of St. Patrick’s Church immediately after the Requiem Mass.
