Treacy’s West County Inn Ennis was the venue for the fourth annual presentation of the Pope John Paul II Awards to young people from all over the Diocese of Killaloe. 122 young people from Birr to Kilrush, including our own two Shannon schools, received awards from Bishop Fintan Monahan, Bishop of Killaloe. Megan Nolan from St Patrick’s Comprehensive School received a Papal award for her work with the children’s Liturgy in Mary Immaculate Church. Eoin Riordan and Caoilinn Kirby from St Patrick’s Comprehensive School and Niamh Lyons from St Caimin’s School received awards also for their contribution to their parishes and community. Our thanks to our school Chaplains, Ms. Murray, Ms. Bulfin and Ms. McDonald who are the award leaders and mentors to our young people.
