Planting a Tree of Hope is intended to show support and to provide a place of comfort for those who have been bereaved by suicide or who are living with mental health issues such as depression. The Pastoral Council were approached with a request that a Tree of Hope be planted in Shannon Parish and Noreen Bracken planted the tree, a crab tree, next to the statue in Illaunmanagh Cemetery on Sunday 2nd November, All Souls Day. Balloons were then released in honour of those that we were thinking of. The planting of the Tree of Hope was the first to take place outside of Dublin. Our thanks to Niall & Noreen Fulham for providing all of the information required and for the hand carved stake for the tree, and also to Noreen Bracken for the suggestion. Visit the Facebook page https://facebook.com//TreesOfHope for further information. Our thanks to Joe Buckley for the photographs.
