Minister for Education and Skills Mr Richard Bruton TD and Bishop Fintan Monahan, Bishop of Killaloe who are joint Trustees of St Patrick’s Comprehensive School were present in the school on Friday 27th April for the official opening and Blessing of the newly built extension to the school. Morgan Heaphy, Principal of St Patrick’s Comprehensive School, welcomed all invited guests and students and invited David Deighan, Chairman of the Board of Management, to address the gathering. Minister Bruton then spoke before Bishop Fintan blessed the building and the school community.

At the conclusion of the ceremony the Minister unveiled a plaque to commemorate the occasion. Among the guests present on the day were local public representatives and representatives from the local primary schools and retired teachers of the school including the first ever principal of St Patrick’s Comprehensive school, Diarmaid Ó Donneabháin and his wife Renee.
